These are done by the Practice Nurse in routine clinics, please call to make an appointment. Women are invited for smears by the national screening programme at the following intervals:
|Age group (years)||Frequency of screening|
|25 – 49||3 yearly|
|50 – 64||5 yearly|
|65+||Only women who have not been screened since age 50 or have had recent abnormal tests|
Please attend for your smear tests, it is important to your health.
The nurses will be wearing the appropriate PPE and all the surgery staff are practicing social distancing.
Please arrive no more than five minutes before your appointment – you will receive a text or a call prior to your appointment to check that you are well. When you arrive at the main door, a receptionist will check your temperature, ensure you have a face covering on (if you have no condition that prevents you from wearing one) and ask you to use the hand sanitizer. They will then direct you to an area to wait.
Please see more information about cervical smears here. If you have any concerns about having a test, please speak to one of the Practice Nurses or to your GP.
